The winners of Radio 1’s Teen Awards 2019 have just been announced, with the ceremony taking place at the Television Centre in front of an exclusive audience of 500 Radio 1 fans.
Lewis Capaldi was the ceremony’s big winner, taking home the awards for both Best British Singer and Best Single for Someone You Loved. Little Mix beat competition from The 1975, BROCKHAMPTON, Jonas Brothers and twenty one pilots to take home the award for Best Group, with Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirlwall collecting the award.
Ariana Grande took home the award for Best International Solo Artist ahead of Billie Eilish, Post Malone, Shawn Mendes and Taylor Swift, whilst Stormzy walked away with the title of Best British Rapper.
Best Film was awarded to Avengers: Endgame, whilst Netflix series Stranger Things won the award for Best TV Programme. The ceremony also crowned 2019’s BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year, with the award going to 18-year-old boxer Caroline Dubois.
Radio 1’s Teen Awards were hosted by Greg James, Maya Jama and Mollie King, with live performances from YUNGBLUD, AJ Tracey and Jax Jones. The show will be broadcast on Radio 1 (12-1pm) and BBC Two (4-5pm) on Saturday November 30. Highlights will later be available to watch on Radio 1’s iPlayer and YouTube channels.
