Canadian singer-songwriter Liz Lokre is back with a new single called “Stop Runnin'”, taken from the movie Little Italy starring Emma Roberts, Hayden Christensen, and Alyssa Milano.
Alongside the track, Liz has also unveiled the music video for the song. The visual is a simple performance piece which shows elements of the track’s creative process. By focusing on Liz performing “Stop Runnin'” on the piano, the visual allows her to showcase the pure emotion of the song.
Speaking about how she came to write “Stop Runnin'”, Liz said: “When I was approached to write a song for Little Italy I knew it had to evoke a certain romantic comedy worthy emotion. “Stop Runnin'” is about a girl who could have the world if she wanted it, but she discovers everything she’s wanted has been there all along.. it captures that moment when Emma’s character Nikki finally lets her guard down. I rarely finish a song in one night – if I do it’s by some miracle, and “Stop Runnin'” was one of those rarities.”

“‘Stop Runnin'” features in Little Italy, which will be released in US theatres on September 21. Directed by Donald Petrie (Miss Congeniality, How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days), Little Italy is a romantic comedy which takes place on College Street in Toronto’s Little Italy, Liz’s hometown. The movie was released in Canada on August 24.
“Stop Runnin'” follows on from Liz’s previous offerings including ‘Rise Up’ and ‘Buh Bye’. She is currently working on new music with producer and guitarist Adrian X (Drake, The Weeknd, PARTY NEXTDOOR), and we can expect her debut album next year.
Alongside her music, Liz has also founded the #RiseUpMovement, which coincided with the release of ‘Rise Up’. The movement focuses on youth empowerment and on her days off, Liz hosts workshops in Toronto schools where students discuss their strengths and the ways they can positively impact their communities.
