Lorde played a surprise gig in southern California last night.
Announcing the unexpected show at Pappy & Harriet’s, a barbecue restaurant and music venue, a mere SIX hours before it was due to start, Lorde wrote on Twitter:
“i’m playing my first show in 2 and a half years tonight at midnight.”

Tickets for the intimate gig sold out within minutes, which comes as no surprise considering Pappy & Harriet’s holds just 300 people.

During the show, Lorde performed several new songs off her forthcoming album ‘Melodrama’, which is set to be released in June, as well her new single ‘Greenlight’.

During the show Lorde told the crowd “this is a huge deal for us. We haven’t played a show since December 2014.”
The gig comes ahead of her scheduled appearance at the Coachella Festival in LA this weekend.
