Soccer Aid, a British charity match that benefits Unicef UK just added another superstar to its June 5th event roster, and fans all across the world are very excited. Louis Tomlinson has signed on to play on the England side of the match which will put them against the Rest of the World team at Old Trafford in Manchester.
Started in 2006, Soccer Aid has already raised over £17 Million through the matches that occur every two years for Unicef’s work for children. The initiative behind Unicef and Soccer Aid is very important and a statement on their website shows exactly what you’re becoming a part of when you donate to their wonderful organization.
“Unicef is on the ground, working day and night to provide much needed support and offer a lifeline to children in danger. We can’t do it without your help. By supporting Soccer Aid your donations will help Unicef provide nutritious food, vaccines and clean water, as well as protecting children from violence, exploitation and abuse.”
It comes as no surprise that Louis would sign on to be part of this incredible event as his heart is so large that he gives pieces of it to everyone he can. Louis is involved in multiple charity organizations, events, and drives throughout the year and both the individuals and families of those he helps always have amazing things to say about Louis and his kind and compassionate heart.
Fans of One Direction love seeing Louis in his footie gear! He’s been a football fan since he was young, specifically of the Doncaster Rovers – a club that’s always been close to his heart. In his spare time he’s frequently playing FIFA, tweeting about the sport, and kicking a ball around – seeing him be so passionate and happy is a joy for his fans. There’s no doubt that Soccer Aid will be just another way he makes the world a better place and gets to enjoy his time doing it all in one go.
If you’re a fan of Louis and you want to help, but you can’t make it to the event, don’t fear – you can donate to their organization and show your support that way. The site gives you a run down of where your donation goes which makes it more personal as you’re donating to help underprivileged children.
“I’m really excited to play in this year’s Soccer Aid event. Unicef as a charity, and its workers, continue to amaze me and helping even in this small way is a privilege.” – Louis Tomlinson
We can’t wait to see how the match ends up – we’re already rooting for Louis’ team to win, and are excited to see how much money is raised this go around to enhance the lives of other people.
Tickets are on sale for the match but with Louis added to the roster, we anticipate they’ll be sold out in no time – so if you want to go, make sure to get your spot quickly.
