Whilst Christmas is ‘the most wonderful time of the year’ for many, singer-songwriter Mabel has released a heartfelt song which reminds us that not everyone experiences the festive cheer.
Written by Mabel with Kamille, MNEK, and Tre-Jean Marie, ‘Loneliest Time of Year’ emphasises that Christmas can indeed be a difficult time for many people in our community. “Sorry I’m not so merry but I feel like this yearly”, Mabel opens before she asks “So somebody show me, how am I supposed to have fun at the loneliest time of year?”
Despite being an alternative Christmas release, the track is laced with festive sleigh bells throughout and is tied together by Mabel’s gorgeous RnB vocals. The track is an emotional release from the songstress, which many will be able to relate to.

‘Loneliest Time Of Year’ follows on from Mabel’s debut album, High Expecations, which debuted at number three on the UK albums chart. The album includes her huge hit ‘Don’t Call Me Up’, which is the biggest selling single of the year by a UK female artist. It also features ‘Mad Love’ and ‘OK (Anxiety Anthem)’.
Mabel recently released ‘God is a Dancer’ with Tiësto which is still within the UK top 20. The starlet also recently gave a show-stopping performance at the MTV EMAs, where she was nominated for three awards.
Mabel will be heading out on her headline UK and European tour early next year in support of her debut album. The tour will begin in Dublin on January 28, with performances in cities including Manchester, London, Paris, and Amsterdam, before finishing off in Oslo on March 8.
