Pop icon Madonna has premiered the music video for her brand new single “Medellin” featuring Colombian singer-songwriter Maluma.
The epic cinematic clip, directed by Diana Kunst and Mau Morgó, opens with a silhouette of Madonna delivering her new life manifesto via prayer:
“Dear God, how could I trust anyone after years of disappointment and betrayal? How could I not want to run away again, and again, escape? I will never be what society expects me to be. I have seen too much. I cannot turn back.”
It is then, we are formally introduced to Madonna’s latest persona, Madame X, a dominatrix cha-cha instructor who begins to lead a group of dancers, including Maluma, in a synchronised, seductive latin inspired routine.
The intense, instant attraction between Madame X and Maluma is palpable, as we see the pair intertwined around one another whilst sharing a bed, smoking cigars and drinking champagne, with M sucking on her new lovers big toe as the song reaches it’s climactic chorus.
The couples love affair evolves culminating in a carnivalesque wedding reception which sees Madonna dancing along the top table to her new husband.
Interspersed with black and white shots of a glamorous looking Madame X in various setups and a tribal like dance break complete with a troop of back-up dancers, the mini-movie ends with both Madonna and Maluma riding horses into the sunset.
“Medellin” is visual masterpiece – artistic, provocative, thought provoking and emotive – Madonna aka Madame X is officially BACK we cannot WAIT to see what has in store for us this era.
