Mali-Koa Hood Teases New Year Will Bring Original Music

When sharing a new cover today with her following, Mali-Koa Hood has promised that “2016 marks an exciting time with original music” for her. Posting her rendition of Calvin Harris and Disciples’ ‘How Deep Is Your Love’ on her social media accounts to thank her fans for their support throughout 2015, the London-based musician commented how she “can’t share” any original content with us just “yet”.

Considering the demos and recordings the songwriter has uploaded over the years to her SoundCloud and YouTube accounts, we’re sure many are excited to see what the new year brings for the performer who moved all the way from Sydney, Australia to London to pursue her dream of working in the music industry.

Previously, Mali-Koa has covered songs by Sara Bareilles, Stevie Wonder and Carly Rae Jepsen. In her recent take on Calvin Harris’ hit and despite being a DJ herself as part of Double Trouble with her good pal Kylie Griffiths, Mali has stripped back all the production elements and layers to make use of a piano-vocal only arrangement. This has cleverly exposed listeners to the bluesy tones and soul timbres of the up-and-coming singer’s voice. Give it a listen below.

If the slowed down ballad-like version of Harris’ song is anything close to the quality of Mali’s own music will be like, we can’t wait to see what she’ll share with us next.

Are you excited for what the Aussie might release this year? Leave us a comment or tweet @CelebMix. And if you’re too impatient to wait to hear more from Mali-Koa, check out some of her music that we think is incredible here.
