Everyone has a dark side. And Marina Kaye is ready to explore it with her latest release.
French singer-songwriter Marina Kaye has decided to switch things up a little with her bold, new record. The appropriately titled “Twisted” sees the platinum singer take us on a trip through her emotional mindset and her many experiences in the past.
Co-written by the singer herself with AFSHeeN (who also wrote for Madonna, Galantis and Selena Gomez) and Josh Cumbee, the track “is an extremely deep and personal song […]“, for her, as Marina explains in a press release. “I feel like I have some twisted thoughts in my mind, but that’s no bad thing. In fact I’m proud of it now because it makes me who I am.”
“Twisted” is an obvious statement of this pride. Marina delivers strong and powerful vocals over a dark pop melody. “I am not a sad girl, I am not a bad girl”, the singer acknowledges during the chorus yet still admitting “coz baby know I’m just a little twisted”.
There’s nothing to be ashamed of, Marina knows that for sure, and she is ready to stand up for herself.

Marina has also released the official music video for the track which showcases an experience the singer had in her psychiatrist’s office. “The guy didn’t believe a word I told him and looked at me like I was a freak. I wanted to use this experience, and turn the tables for this music video“, she explained about the emotional story behind the visuals.
