Matt Edmondson, comedian, presenter and DJ, has been confirmed as the new host for ‘The Xtra Factor’ this year.
The news comes following a twist in the show that has been announced. Xtra Factor only tends to be live during the ‘Live Shows’ stage of X Factor, however, this year, after the auditions are aired, Matt will be interviewing some individuals who had auditioned and the show is also set to include special guests. More information is set to be revealed over time.
There have been many rumours surrounding who the new presenter would be for the show – Rylan Clark, Laura Whitmore, Nicky Byrne, Roman Kemp and George Shelley.
This is not the only change to be made to the show this year – a new judging line up consisting of Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh.
Dermot O’Leary is also returning to his role of presenting the show, after Olly Murs and Caroline Flack faced a lot of public scrutiny when presenting the show last year.
Matt has said that he is ‘unbelievably excited about joining The Xtra Factor this year.’ No doubt, the presenter will have a tough job following from previous presenting duo, Rochelle Humes and Melvin Odoom, who are leaving just after one series.
