West End superstar, and lead of Mamma Mia!, Mazz Murray WOWED audiences at London’s Adelphi Theatre this week, delivering a breath-taking performance celebrating the timeless music of legendary recording artist Dusty Springfield, in Mazz Murray: The Music of Dusty Springfield.
Presented by Cuffe & Taylor in association with Solo Agency, the magical evening was the second in a pair of triumphant tributes to one of Britain’s most beloved musical icons, following an equally spectacular show at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall earlier this month.
Performing alongside the phenomenal Novello Orchestra, Mazz brought Dusty’s classic hits to life, including ‘Son of a Preacher Man’, ‘I Only Want to Be With You’ and ‘You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me’.
Speaking to the sold out crowd, the two time CelebMix Award nominee said of her idol: “She (Dusty) was often quite insecure about herself, but if only she knew how admired and adored she is so many decades later… we only want to be with you Dusty.”
In one of the evenings most touching moments, Murray was joined on stage by legendary session singer and close friend of Springfield, Madeline Bell to sing an extra special version of the West Hampstead natives 1963 hit ‘Wishin’ and Hopin’’.
Celebrities in attendance included Hannah Waddingham, Alan Carr, Ruth Jones, Matt Lucas, Ruthie Henshall, Dame Arlene Philips, Vanessa Feltz, Wayne Sleep, William Roche, Kate Thornton, Bradley McIntosh and many more.
