Merlin was a BBC British Television show that started in 2008. Airing around the Christmas period, it was a family favourite with its weekly episodes that always had a series finale just before Christmas. Sadly, the show ended Christmas Eve in 2012 after five thirteen-episode seasons.
Merlin (Colin Morgan)
Since Merlin, Colin Morgan has starred in several TV Shows such as The Living And The Dead, The Fall and Humans. The year after the show’s end, Colin also won two awards for his role of Merlin, one being a National Television Award and the other a SFX Award.
Arthur Pendragon (Bradley James)
Bradley James has been in multiple shows since the end of Merlin, one being The CW’s hit show iZombie, and another playing Damien Thorne in the show Damien. He also played the role of Varga in Underworld: Blood Wars.
Morgana Pendragon (Katie McGrath)
In the past few years, Katie McGrath has done a lot. She hasn’t just been in multiple TV Shows like Dracula, Slasher and Frontier, but she’s also currently playing the role of Lena Luthor in The CW’s show Supergirl. Katie McGrath also starred in the Jurassic World film in 2015. She is also going to star in the film King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword later this year.
Guinevere (Angel Coulby)
Since her role as Guinevere, Angel has starred in a mix of TV Shows such as Dancing On The Edge, Undercover, The Tunnel and Thunderbirds Are Go. She is also going to play a DI in the upcoming mini-series Innocent.
Gaius (Richard Wilson)
Richard Wilson has had various of one episode roles in TV shows like Playhouse Presents, Artsnight and Trollied since Merlin ended. He has also starred in TV movies such as Danny And The Human Zoo and A Midsummer’s Night Dream.
The Great Dragon (John Hurt)
John Hurt, who voiced The Great Dragon on Merlin, has done a mix of things since the end of Merlin; both, voice acting and making appearances. His most known role was as The War Doctor on BBC’s Doctor Who. He also starred in films such as Hercules, The Journey, Jackie, The Good Night and My Name Is Lenny.
Uther Pendragon (Anthony Head)
Since the end of Merlin, Anthony has featured in several TV shows such as Warehouse 13, Free Agents, Dancing On The Edge, Dominion and Guilt. He has also featured in several films such as Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters, A Street Cat Named Bob and The Brother.
Sir Lancelot (Santiago Cabrera)
In the past few years, Santiago has had a mix of recurring roles on TV shows such as Dexter, Falcón, Anna Karenina and The Mindy Project. However, Santiago’s most popular role since Merlin is his role of Aramis on the BBC’s popular show The Musketeers. He is also going to be in the new Transformers film, The Last King.
Mordred (Asa Butterfield and Alexander Vlahos)
Mordred was played by two actors in the five seasons of the show. When Mordred is seen on the first and second season, his character is seen to be a young child. At this point, he was played by Asa Butterfield. Since his role of Mordred, Asa has been in several films including ones like Hugo, Ender’s Game and Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children. He also plays one of the two lead roles in the upcoming film The Space Between Us.
When Mordred made an appearance on the show again in Season 5, he was no longer played by Asa Butterfield, but Alexander Vlahos instead. Since the show’s end, Alexander has been in several shows including the mini-series Privates and has been a main character on the BBC show Versailles.
Sir Leon (Rupert Young)
Rupert has featured in TV shows The White Queen and People Just Do Nothing in the past few years. He also starred in the films This Love and Writers Retreat. He is also set to feature in the recently announced film The Tutor. The role he will be playing still remains a mystery.
Rupert also went on to the West End; in 2015 at The Old Vic Theatre, he was played one of the main roles for High Society. He played the role of C.K. Dexter Haven.
Sir Gwaine (Eoin Macken)
Since the end of Merlin, Eoin has starred in several films such as The Callback Queen, The Forest and Killing Jesus. He also has a role of Dr. TC Callahan in the TV show Night Shift.
However, Eoin has not only just being in TV and films, he has also published his own book; Kingdom of Scars was released in 2014.
Sir Percival (Tom Hopper)
Tom Hopper’s most known feature, since Merlin ended, is the role of Billy Bones in the show Black Sails. Alongside that role, he has also been in shows Game Of Thrones and Barbarians Rising. Film wise, he’s starred in films such as Kill Ratio, Leopard and Knights of Badassdom.
So there we have it! That’s what all the main characters have been up to since Merlin ended, but what the future has to hold for them? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
