Michael Phelps wins Lifetime Achievement Award!
Sports Personality Of The Year is an event where we celebrate the year in sport. Many athletes from all sports and countries come together to celebrate their achievements this year. One of the awards that is given out on the night is the Lifetime Achievement Award. This award celebrates an athlete that has been a true inspiration in sport.
This year, the winner was Michael Phelps!
Over the last sixteen years, Phelps has taken 28 Olympic medals in total, 23 of those being Gold, five being silver or bronze. He is a true inspiration to swimming and to sport in general. He has inspired many people across the world to start swimming and truly deserves to be recognised. Phelps has had an incredible career and we’re sure we speak for a majority when we say he’s going to be missed! Nobody can deny that he has a true dedication to the sport and we hope that this isn’t the last we hear of him!
Michael Phelps truly is an incredible athlete and it has been amazing watching him in the water.
