Unveiling her evocative, electro-pop offering, Michèle Ducray’s THRONE OF MINE is a bold, moody EP. In this ferocious four-track body of work she focuses on themes of heartbreak, childhood and the end of the world. Her dark, magnetic sound draws listeners in with its devious air. Listeners cannot help but be mesmerized by her mysterious, murky quality.
Opening with “Monster” the playful, taunting track shines with eerie twinkling synths and haunting vocals. Lines like “Go and tell the muffin man, you want him dead and that’s your plan,” add to the tune’s spine-chilling feel. “Psycho” keeps those thrilling vibes going. The upbeat, infectious piece speaks to not fitting into the norm. At times we all can feel like we are a little crazy. Ducray reminds us to never lose that wild side. Concluding with the title-track “Throne of Mine” the song’s intense booming bass and assertive vocals make for a confident release seeped in seduction.
The singer takes inspiration from juxtaposing concepts such as pairing horror with vibrant circus themes. Working with some heavy hitters in the industry such as Simon Gooding (Dua Lipa, Pink) and Pacific Heights (Drax Project, Shapeshifter) have allowed her to grow tremendously. Now she fearlessly displays her edgy pop music with so much raw power. That musical force is heard in the intoxicating EP.
