Millie Bobby Brown is best known as Eleven from Nexflix’s Stranger Things and has won countless awards for her acting – she’s also a beauty mogul (she launched her makeup brand Florence by Mills in September 2019). One lesser known fact about Millie is that before Hollywood, she lived in Bournemouth, England for four years with her family.
During the pandemic that has swept the world, the hardest hit are those in the frontline of health services. All NHS workers across Britain are feeling the strain of this battle. So to help ease the strain and provide a little light, Millie has donated £15,000 to hospitals local to her roots.
The donation has been divided between three NHS Hospitals; The Royal Bournemouth Hospital, Salisbury District Hospital and Southampton General Hospital. These three hospitals directly cover where Millie lived, and the hospitals are going to be using the funds that have been donated to supply staff with care packages, non perishable food items to feed their families and also to help staff access mental health services.
Millie told Bournemouth Daily Echo : “Britain’s NHS workers – and all carers – are an inspiration to us all and are the nation’s heroes. I am in awe of every one of them and just wanted to thank those risking their lives – particularly in hospitals on the south coast. The area is very dear to me and my family and I cannot wait to visit again soon. Keep up the brilliant work and stay safe. Thank you. You are all amazing”.
Millie Bobby Brown isn’t the only A-lister to support Bournemouth’s NHS during in this time. Kelly Osbourne recently donated a large care package to the hospital which included vital PPE, t-shirts and caps, as well as 15 designer crystal masks made by award winning costume designer Perry Meek to lift the staff’s spirits.
During these tough times, it’s incredible to see our favourite stars not just raising funds, but raising spirits too.
