Picture This are a band who’ve already graced CelebMix’s pages but we thought it was time to properly introduce you to the Irish band. Jimmy Rainsford and Ryan Hennessy have been together as Picture This for two years within this time completing a sold-out UK and Ireland tour including selling out five nights at The Olympia in one day. Oh and the small fact they’re the only band to sell out two nights at the 3Arena in Dublin prior to their album release. Impressed? We definitely are.
What can you expect from a Picture This live show? Extensive crowd participation, singalong fan favourite setlists, energy in the bucket loads and emotive lyrics. Check out our review of their Belfast show here.
Having already released their debut EP and album both self-titled in August 2016 and August 2017 there’s likely to be a theme appearing here. August 2018 release? Who knows… Latest single This Morning is taken from upcoming yet to be announced second album.
We asked Picture This five quick-fire questions to help you get to know them better…
You recently released your latest single This Morning, can you tell us a bit more about the track?
This Morning is a song about not knowing whether you’re in love with a person any more or not. Waking up in the morning and not feeling the fire you used to feel before and wondering is this just how relationships go or am I not in love with her anymore? And does she love me back? I think it’s something a lot of people go through at some point.
What was the first thing you did when you woke up this morning?
The first thing I did when I woke up this morning was sprint out my front door into Jimmy’s car because we were late for a meeting. (Clothed of course).
Can you choose one of your own lyrics to sum up your time in Picture This?
“We’re too big for this town” is a great one in a metaphorical sense. We constantly set goals for ourselves and once we smash them it’s like alright we’ve done that now what’s next what’s bigger and what’s better and I think the sentiment of that line and that song (You & I) is just the same as that.
When you were growing up which artists did you listen to, do you feel they’re reflected in your sound at all?
We grew up listening to big iconic bands who produced anthem after anthem. The likes of Oasis, Queen and The Beatles. Classic bands with timeless songs. You can hear that through how anthemic and stadia sized the songs we write are.
What’s next on the cards in 2018?
New music is next on the cards for us in 2018 and it’s what we’re all about. We only realised our debut album at the end of last year but we’re not the type of band to disappear for four years after an album. We’re back with new music in 2018 because we produce so many songs and our fans constantly crave new music, which we love!
