Carpente, aka Kenny Carpenter, joins forces with House vocalist Pepper Gomez on their brand-new single/visualizer, “Because You Know.”
This isn’t the pair’s first collaboration. They previously worked together on “Moonlight Drive,” “Baby Don’t Wanna Let Go,” and “Lady Libertad.”
According to Pepper Gomez, “I’m not exactly clear what’s going on with me with my recent releases. They are all just so happy and semi-experimental but definitely new house. It’s very cute that I’m writing such happy music. I called this one ‘new trip house’ because Kenny just made it totally cool and used my voice as an instrument and of course, you’ve got this positive trippy affirmation going on that just came out of me.”
The CEO and founder of Wake Up! Music, Gomez charted twice on Billboard, followed by running her own company, followed by establishing her own independent label, Wake Up! Music Group.
On his part, Carpente does it all – sings, composes, produces, owns his own label, and makes films. When he was 13 years old, he started playing keyboards. In college, a fascination with synthesizers and modules found him playing with prog-rock bands, as well as a new wave cover band. Then he added filmmaking to his repertoire.
“Because You Know” opens on swirling, lysergic tones flavored by Gomez’s dream-like vocals. A thumping house rhythm provides the foundation for layered psychedelic tones, forming a kaleidoscopic surface coated with a kind of hallucinogenic haze giving the tune a bewitching mistiness, as if looking through frosted glass.
Gomez’s spine-tingling, sensual voice imbues the song with dreamy, voluptuous timbres, drifting on oozing filaments, at once seductive and oh-so erotic. The vocals sway, float, and glide with subliminal sonic images, adding liquid grace.
Pure pleasure new trip house, “Because You Know” blends magical vocals with sumptuously built textures of instrumentation.
