Portland, Oregon-based singer-songwriter Shawn Brown unveils his brand-new single, “Road of Bones,” following on the heels of his 2022 EP, The Rain Parade. The release show for “Road of Bones” will take place at The Record Pub in Portland, Oregon.
Speaking about “Road of Bones,” Brown shares, “This whole journey of making music is ever evolving, it just feels different and oddly more authentic as you get a little older. It’s a bit of magic when you’re collaborating with amazing musicians like Grecco, Rafa, and Brendan. You’re writing and creating a song that is deeply personal, but then the people around you totally get it and add their bit of substance to the song to make it 110% better than the original idea. This song in particular targets those heartbreaks we all carry along with us and celebrates the resilience it takes to choose to start over. Thanks for listening, roll down the windows and sing this one loud!”
After close to a decade of not playing music, Brown’s comeback into writing and releasing music occurred thanks to his longtime friend, Rafa Cirne Lima, who introduced him to a writing and production alliance that includes Grecco Buratto (guitars, mandolin, keyboards, backing vocals) and Brendan Buckley (drums). Lima also played bass guitar in the effort. The track involved help from engineer Alberto Lopez (for vocals) and was mastered by Grammy winner Robert Carranza.
“Road of Bones” opens on gleaming Americana guitars tinted with flavors of rock and hints of pop, riding a contagious rhythm made up of finessed drums and a subtle bassline. Highlighted by the delicious, scratchy rasp of Brown’s evocative voice, imbuing the lyrics with captivating timbres, silhouetting harmonies add glowing depth and dimension.
