Country singer-songwriter James Robert Webb, who splits his time between Nashville and Tulsa, Oklahoma, unveils his new single/music video, “Gentlemen Start Your Weekends.”
Written with longtime collaborator and Music City songwriting community staple Alex Dooley, whose songs have been recorded by, among others, Easton Corbin and Craig Campbell, “Gentlemen Start Your Weekends” certifies Webb – a longtime fixture on Billboard’s Country Indicator Chart and Texas Regional Radio Report – as a Southern rock and Heartland rock and roller.
Webb explains, “I had just finished my last writing session of the day and ran into Alex Dooley, who had just wrapped up his own. The minute he said that phrase, I knew it had the makings of a great song. We wrote it right then and there! “
So far, Webb, who released his debut album Pictures in 2016, has scored nine Top 40 hits on Music Row’s Country Breakout chart, five consecutive Top 40 appearances on Billboard’s Country Indicator chart, and four Top 20 hits on the influential Texas Regional Radio Report, including two number one hits, “Stealing Home” and “Lovesick Drifting Cowboy.” In 2022, Webb was named the Country Breakout Awards’ Independent Artist of the Year.
Along with being a stellar country artist, Webb is one of the top musculoskeletal radiologists in the U.S., performing the specialized procedure known as kyphoplasty.
Since arriving on the music scene in 2013, Webb has dropped four long players and numerous singles, amassing more than four million streams. He’s also been featured in American Songwriter Magazine, Country Music People Magazine, and Taste of Country, as well as receiving beaucoup airplay on radio stations and SiriusXM.
“Gentlemen Start Your Weekends” opens on low-slung emerging tones, and then ramps up to a contagious country rock rhythm topped by potent, gleaming guitars. A simmering organ adds delicious oozing textures as Webb’s drawling timbres imbue the lyrics with galvanizing flavors. It’s one of those appealing, easy-to-listen-to voices, dripping with delicious sonic nuances.
“Gentlemen, start your weekends / I’ve got that finally Friday feelin’, that I’ve been needin’ / So fire those engines up, let’s have a little fun.”
On the solo, a blistering guitar infuses the tune with sizzling licks, followed by dropping into a rumbling, drum-filled bridge that elevates to a rousing finale.
Simultaneously electrifying and pulsating with contagious energy, “Gentlemen Start Your Weekends” thrums with compelling country rock oomph.
