Nathan Trent will represent Austria at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest.
The contest will take place in the International Exhibition Centre in Kiev, Ukraine in May 2017, after Jamala won the contest last year with “1944”. It will be the 62nd edition of the show.
Austria will be hoping to recreate the success they had in 2014 when Conchita Wurst won the competition with “Rise Like A Phoenix”.
In previous years Austria used a national final to select their representative. However, this year the Austrian broadcaster ORF have used an internal selection. A team including music experts Eberhard Forcher and Christof Straub searched the music scene in Austria. They invited Nathan to submit a song before choosing him as Austria’s representative.
Nathan will write the song for his entry. The song will be released in February 2017.
