Musical innovator Native James switches things up today (April 23rd) with the unveiling of a brand new reworked version of his song, ‘BLOCK’ featuring rappers Double S and Professor Green.

Originally recorded and released as a grime track with the Double S back in 2023, the reimagined version of the unifying song – re-named ‘BLOCK (RR)’ – features fresh rock/metal instrumentation, as well as an arresting new verse courtesy of NME Award winner Pro Green.

Commenting on the singles message and empowering lyric, James says: “‘BLOCK (RR)’ is about all different types of people coming from a certain area, and making it a community where different cultures and people all live amongst each other, sharing and making the place where they come from unique… I made this chorus a few years ago in my friend’s bedroom, so for this to now be a song with iconic artists on it is humbling.”

With Professor Green adding of the trios spirited collab: “I bumped into Native getting a tattoo at One by One in Soho and a little while after he sent over a song called ‘BLOCK’, I heard it, ran to my studio and recorded myself freestyling – I lean into the songs I’ve made about the blocks I grew up in and amongst to get me where I needed to be at. Everyone on the track stepped fully out.”

Fresh from receiving his first ever MOBO Award nomination, Native James continues to make great strides in 2025!

As well as working on new music, the ‘Hammer’ rapper is to play a free show in collaboration with Marshall Records, Worn Out Creative and Clash Magazine at London’s Sebright Arms on May 6th, before joining alternative recording artist Hyphen on tour next month.

Native will also join post-hardcore trio, letlive. at their farewell shows in London in the Summer.
