One Direction fans are in for a treat as news broke on May 9th that Niall Horan would be joining Soccer Aid! If you’re a fan of the lads then you already know that Louis Tomlinson joined the charity event last month, and with Niall joining too there’s sure to be a great deal of excitement both on and off the field!
Something that’s going to make this match even more exciting? Niall joined on The Rest Of The World Team which is the team that’s going against Louis’ team. We imagine there will be some incredible banter between the lads as game day approaches!
Niall said of being asked to join 2016’s Soccer Aid.
“It’s an absolute honour to be asked to be involved with such a fantastic charity and this game has become a major event on the calendar for the last 10 years,” said Niall. “I’m absolutely delighted to be a part of the Rest of World team and Mr Ranieri’s management team. We have a great team this year and I’m sure the boys are looking forward to the challenge. It’s going to be a great week.”
Louis and Niall are no strangers to charity football matches, as both lads have taken part in a number of games during their time in One Direction, it comes as absolutely no surprise that they’re choosing to spend part of their hiatus giving back and having fun while doing so.
While Niall’s knee will keep him from playing in the match, he is set to be the assistant coach and we are happy to see him taking it easy on himself but still participating in the excitement.
Soccer Aid is an event put on by Unicef to assist children in need all around the globe. Soccer Aid is in it’s 10th year and has raised over £17 Million! It’s an incredible feeling as fans of both Louis and Niall to know that they’re taking part in something that will help change lives of young people, we only imagine that they feel just as humbled and proud as we do.
