Nick Jonas is one of the busiest guys in Hollywood but it looks like he has no plans to slow down any time soon. As well as planning to release new music, working on a top-secret screenplay, and riding the wave of his successful new movie, “Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle,” the musician has just revealed that he is teaming up with John Varvatos to release a new clothing line.
Although this isn’t the first time Nick Jonas has ventured into the world of fashion following his collaboration with Creative Recreation last year, it will be the first time that John Varvatos has collaborated with someone on an apparel line. But despite the new territory, the pair insist that the project happened in a really organic way.
“I met John at a dinner,” Jonas explained. “We were seated next to each other and we just hit it off… We talked about music, fashion, where were from and then after dinner, we just stayed in touch and became friends.” And the rest is history, as they say.
The limited edition collection which has now been appropriately titled, “JVxNJ,” will debut in Spring, when the multi-talented musician himself will officially become the new face of the designer brand.
Fans of the collection will notice that the city of Detroit plays an integral part in the collection, with several pieces in the line posessing the name. This is because it is where Varvatos was raised and although Jonas calls New Jersey home, he stated that it was necessary to play tribute to the, “great American city and the origin of John’s brand. It was a cool opportunity to embrace Detroit. I’ve had the chance to play some really iconic music venues there and I love the city, I love the people. It felt like the perfect fit for me.”
“The process of working with Nick has been amazing so far,” Varvatos said. “He’s a musician, he’s an artist, he’s an actor, and he’s intrigued by everything in the world. I found a real connection with that. It’s so inspiring to be around someone who is not only connected with their trade, but also with what is happening in the environment around him and how that connects to what we do with style.”
“It has been incredibly educational,” Jonas then added. “I let John take the lead, but he was also open to my ideas. It really was a collaboration.”
The result of Nick Jonas and John Varvatos’ two worlds colliding is the new seven piece, “JVxNJ,” collection which the musician hopes will become a staple in every man’s closet. Pieces in the collection include everything from leather jackets and t-shirts to jeans and snap-button shirts with prices beginning at $98. The collection will be available in all of Varvatos’ stores, on his website, and at Nordstrom, which is the exclusive retail partner for the collaboration.
