Nicky Romero hints on his new sonic direction with 4-track “Perception” EP

Nicky Romero gears up for summertime with his new EP “Perception,” featuring four tracks that showcase his sonic direction for the festival season. Fans will recognize “Lose My Mind” and “Pressure” as released earlier this year and featured in his Ultra Music Festival main stage set, which are accompanied in the compilation by brand new tracks “Hear Me Now” and “Work My Body.” Opening with soulful vocals and resonating bass, “Hear Me Now” has a distinct tech-house influence with a twist of old-school garage. Next up is “Work My Body,” which takes a more down and dirty approach to the same vein of sound with catchy vocal riffs and grimy synths. Nicky Romero has displayed many different sides of himself through artistic expression, from his big-room progressive days to his underground alter ego Monocule, and now he’s returning to his OG roots with dynamic house productions.

“Over the past years, I’ve been producing different kinds of genres within dance music. At the beginning of 2022, I went back to my roots and started to try out producing more groovy and housey tracks. When I could play Ultra Music Festival again this year as the first major festival after two years, I wanted to drop “Pressure,” “Lose My Mind,” and “Work My Body” to see the main stage crowd’s reaction. The reception of these three tracks was truly amazing, so I couldn’t wait to go back to the studio to work on more music, and this is when I produced “Hear Me Now,” which perfectly concludes the ‘Perception’ EP” – Nicky Romero

After taking the world by storm with early hits such as “Legacy” with Krewella and the #1 single “I Could Be The One” with Avicii, Nicky Romero quickly proved that his talent is ever-evolving and here to stay. After launching his Protocol Recordings imprint in 2012, the renowned performer, producer, and label head continued his personal successes with a string of high-profile releases, ranging from collaborations with Armin van Buuren, David Guetta, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, W&W, Timmy Trumpet and Steve Aoki to remixes for the likes of Robin Schulz, Kygo, Rita Ora, Steve Aoki, Martin Garrix, Jess Glynne and more. While showcasing his label’s roster via his weekly Protocol Radio show, Nicky Romero continues to innovate and evolve, and with his annual “Nicky Romero & Friends” ADE showcase and the launch of Monocule alter-ego, he keeps proving his ability to turn into gold everything he touches.
