“And the Britney song was on” is something Myah Marie can certainly relate to when it comes to this song, after all, she is known for being Britney Spears’ backing singer and demo vocal recorder, so we’re excited for this cover version of Miley Cyrus’ “Party In The U.S.A.” helmed by the incredible rising DJ and producer, Night Acclaim. This isn’t the first time these two awesome artists have collaborated, they previously teamed up on the 2022 track “Games” and more recently on the 2023 track “Neon“. This recently released single acts as the follow-up to Night Acclaim’s West Coast remix of his previous single “Neon” featuring Myah Marie; and Myah Marie’s feature on Glasi’s single “Touch The Light”.
Rising DJ and songwriter Night Acclaim, real name Thomas Barnes, is a talented pop artist from New Jersey, known for blending the dance-pop production of Katy Perry and the emotive lyricism of Betty Who. Gaining inspiration from a variety of musicians from a young age, he honed his craft before starting his own music project. Collaborating with established co-writers such as Myah Marie, Zak Waters and Hailey Collier, Night Acclaim has released successful singles such as “Beat of Our Hearts” and “Games”, gaining recognition from music industry tastemakers. His greatest strength is his ability to convey vulnerability and relatability through his music, and he is poised for a big year in 2023 with more music releases and live performances planned.
As for Myah Marie, she is a Billboard Top 40 charting singer, songwriter, and vocalist. She has amassed over 20 million Spotify streams thanks to being featured on the hit RuPaul song “Adrenaline”, the Tik Tok sensation track “LEGS” by Lucian Piane, and the addicting hit “Last Time Love” by Fancy Cars, amongst many more. She is mostly known for being a songwriter and backing vocalist, mainly for Britney Spears but also for the likes of Lil Wayne, Miley Cyrus, and Selena Gomez. She is the lead singer of the band My Crazy Girlfriend and has gone on to tour across the US in support of many notable artists, including Charli XCX, Jason Derulo, and Icona Pop. Her work ethic is clearly off the charts, and she continues to impress with every new release, so we suggest keeping an eye on her as 2023 could be her year to completely shine.
Originally written by Claude Kelly, Jessica Cornish (Jessie J), and Lucasz Gottwald, whilst this new cover version has been produced by Pretty Sister, “Party In The U.S.A.” is the party track we all know and love, but Night Acclaim and Myah Marie have switched it up by stripping it down and presenting a more acoustic guitar feel-good anthem. Myah Marie really unlocks a fierce fire-fuelled vocal for this track, connecting with the lyrics and stunning listeners with her strong vocal runs and emotional delivery. The track itself progresses into a masterful instrumentation, warping around Myah Marie’s vocals effortlessly whilst still managing to make a statement with addicting synths and an awesome guitar rhythm, with sprinkled vocalise and alternative beats that create the perfect backing track for this song. There’s no denying that the backing track makes Myah Marie’s voice shine, emphasising her brilliant star presence. Obviously, we have to admit, hearing Myah Marie sing, “And the Britney song was on,” has totally made our whole year and you can literally hear her typical Britney demo vocals as she sings that part – we’re pretty sure she’s used to there being a Britney song on (or in fact a potential Britney song on since she has recorded many of her released and unreleased demos).
