Almost exactly two years after her debut album Peroxide, singer-songwriter Nina Nesbitt is FINALLY releasing new music. The excitement is real.
The Modern Love EP was released on 5 February and features the massively successful Chewing Gum (1.5 million YouTube views and counting) as well as new tracks Take You To Heaven, Masquerade and a couple of demos and remixes.
This new EP marks the beginning of a change in Nina’s sound; she’s moving away from the indie-folk vibes of Peroxide to synthesised pop. But Modern Love is just the warm up for an upcoming new-style album. Speaking to tmrw magazine Nina explained that “with such a different sound I needed an EP to like round it off and show people what it’s going to sound like, so it’s just a snippet basically of what’s to come.” We certainly like the new stuff we’ve heard so far.
The EP’s first single Chewing Gum is leading the Modern Love promotion. Nina’s new image, her contagious lyrics and the video’s concept of sexuality fluidity has had a great reaction from fans. We’re just glad to see her back, really.
Masquerade and Take You To Heaven really tone things down, and they’re pretty emotional. Nina recently performed a bunch of new EP and upcoming album tracks on a small UK tour. In fact, it was such a success that she’s just announced a second mini-tour. Any dates near you?
Have a listen to Modern Love and let us know what you think. Here’s a lil note from Nina herself.
So what are you waiting for? Do as Nina says and get downloading. And make sure to tweet any thoughts to @CelebMix and @ninanesbitt, yeah?
