One Direction’s Moving Music Video for History Has Left Us All In Tears

In December of 2015 One Direction announced that their final single before their hiatus would be changed from Infinity to History after fans had shown their emotional attachment to the song.  After the November 13th debut of Made In The AM it wasn’t hard to see why History was a fan favorite.

You and me got a whole lot of history
We could be the greatest team that the world has ever seen
You and me got a whole lot of history
So don’t let it go, we can make some more, we can live forever

Minibars, expensive cars, hotel rooms, and new tattoos, good champagne, and private planes
    But they don’t mean anything
Cause’ the truth is out, I realised that without you here life is just a lie
    This is not the end
    This is not the end
We can make it you know it, you know

In August of 2015 Louis, Harry, Liam, and Niall announced that they would be taking a break after the release of their fifth album and completion of their OTRA tour.  Fans were shocked at the news, but after a series of tweets from the lads and accompanying interviews explaining their need for a break, fans got over their initial feeling of being taken back and welcomed the idea of some time off.  It was evident, for most, that Niall, Liam, Harry, and Louis had been overworked during their time together – that very fact is what spurred former member Zayn Malik to leave One Direction in March – and once the lads had time to realize that being in One Direction is what they wanted, it was time for them to close this chapter of their journey and prepare themselves for future volumes.

History encompasses that fear, the passion fans have for the lads, and the passion that they have for their fans, and the special bond that’s been built for so long.

History also erases that fear and enhances that love and the bond – and the music video is just a further show of how much Louis, Harry, Niall, and Liam love each other, love their fans, and love Zayn for his part in their incredible five years together.

On January 26th – One Direction released their music video for History and we haven’t stopped watching it, or crying!

The video showcased a lovely mix of moments from their early days and recent moments – both on stage and off. You saw the lads laughing together, singing together, traveling together. You saw smiles, you saw love, you saw friendship, you saw five incredible years of One Direction’s history – and the part you played in it too.

Thank you – Harry, Louis, Liam, Niall, and Zayn for five incredible years.  Thank you Harry, Louis, Liam, and Niall for the most epic, insane, incredible 2015 – even with all the ups and downs.  Thank you for giving your fans a beautiful montage of the journey that’s been taken so far, and cementing it with a promise of more magic to come.

The last five years would be a lot less beautiful if we hadn’t had this time with you lads – from your fans, from the people who love you – we’re thankful, we’re lucky, and we’re blessed to share this piece of History together.

    We’ll see you soon then.
