Multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated quinter OneRepublic are back with a brand new single called ‘Kids‘.
‘Kids’ is the second single to be taken from OneRepublic’s highly anticipated fourth album, which will be released later this year. It follows ‘Wherever I Go’, which has been making waves across the charts worldwide.
The band’s latest track was produced by Ryan Tedder and Brent Kutzle, and was recorded in Tokyo and Mexico City. The upcoming video for ‘Kids’ was also shot in Mexico City. The track itself is a huge stomping anthem and indicates that we can expect a variety of new sounds on their forthcoming album.
Tedder reportedly came up with the melody “in 30 seconds” and recorded it on his phone. He also credits Kutzle for pushing his musical boundaries during ‘Kids’. Whilst the track has that familiar OneRepublic stamp to it in some respects, we also get to experience some electronic elements, plenty of percussion and flawless falsetto from Tedder.
The soaring chorus is one that we’re bound to still be singing at the top of our lungs for years to come.
I refuse to look back thinking days were better, just because they’re younger days
I don’t know what’s ’round the corner, way I feel right now I swear we’ll never change
Back when we were kids, swore we would never die
You and me were kids, swear that we’ll never die
We think that OneRepublic have delivered another truly unforgettable pop gem, which will stand strong next to their most known hits such as ‘Apologize’ and ‘Counting Stars’.
If ‘Kids’ is anything to go by, then there’s no doubt that their forthcoming album will be another success story for the group.
