Pixie Lott Defends ‘The Voice Kids’

Pixie Lott has defended ‘The Voice Kids’ amid claims the show puts young children under too much pressure.

Pixie is set to appear as a coach on the children’s version of the ITV talent competition alongside will.i.am and Danny Jones from McFly.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain the ‘Cry Me Out’ singer hit back at the claims.

“They are all so talented but obviously you can’t put them all through.”

“The kids that didn’t go through to the next round are so fearless and so excited just to be there, and we get to speak to them afterwards.”

Pixie also says she believes the contestants youth makes the rejection easier to deal with.

“They’re still so excited about their futures and what they can do because they are so young. It’s not like it’s their last chance.”

“They really just seem so happy to be there.”

Pixie herself has been performing since she was a child.

From the age of five, Lott attended the Italia Conti Associates Saturday School in Chislehurst, before being awarded a scholarship to the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts aged of 11.

As a teenager Pixie appeared in the West End production of ‘Chitty, Chitty Bang, Bang!’ and signed her first record deal at just 15 years old.

Pixie believes her experiences help her to empathise with the young contestants on the show.

“I do have loads of empathy for the kids because I’ve gone through doing those auditions at the same age, but I’m still doing it now.”

“There’s no way you can have a career in this profession without those knock-backs.”

Reflecting further Pixie says “it’s amazing to have those experiences when you’re so young.”

“Now I’m a bit older it’s like water off a duck’s back. If I experienced it now for the first time at 26 it would be a lot harder.”

Pixie has recently teamed up with DJ Antono Powers on her latest single ‘Baby’.

The duo performed the track at the live final of The Voice UK last month.

The Voice Kids is set to air on ITV this June.
