After telling us that the “Voicemail” is full at the beginning of the year and after wearing her “Scary Mask” in her highly anticipated collaboration with FEVER 333, YouTube sensation and musical genius Poppy is back with another great new track.
Poppy’s latest song is titled “Choke” and comes in anticipation of her soon-to-be-released EP, which arrives under the same name. “Choke” is featuring, and we say that with all due respect, a more modest approach to music than her previous releases. Still starting with a heavy electronic beat, accompanied by the words “Help I’m drowning, there’s nobody around me // I need someone to save me”, Poppy takes us on quite the ride during the upcoming four minutes of the track. The release is dark and twisted but surprisingly more on the pop-rock-leaning side of Poppy’s latest journey into the metal spectrum.
Next to this debut, the artist has also revealed the release date and track list for her upcoming EP all in one swift movement. The EP will be released on June 28th digitally and on July 14th physically. It features 5 tracks in total, including her previous releases “Voicemail”, “Scary Mask” and “Choke”. The remaining tracks are titled “Meat” and “The Holy Mountain”.
As of today, you are also able to pre-order the EP as a limited edition cassette, either as a bundle with a “Choke” t-shirt or as a standalone version from Poppy’s store right here.
