New York City-based singer-songwriter Johnny Burgos premieres the music video for “Creepin” on CelebMix. The song delves into the topic of temptation and the risk of unfaithfulness.
Burgos explains the video, saying, “Artistically, I wanted the visuals rich in color while having a classic aesthetic to favor both the novelty of the song and the vintage vibes of the space and burlesque styles. The video loosely tells a story of me giving in to a subtly tempting gesture, to suddenly find myself in a world of temptation that is more than I can handle, which leads me to the realization that I am content with my own relationship and need not look any further. As though what tamed the beast inside was a bigger stronger beast.”
A native of Brooklyn, NY, Burgos developed an early taste for the intoxicating rhythms of salsa and soul music because of his uncle, Andre Martinez, one of the world’s foremost percussionists. Later, he became fascinated by hip-hop, co-producing, along with DJ Skizz, artists such as Mobb Deep and M.O.P. In due course, he hooked up with singer-songwriter Liza Colby, forming the soul duo The Gold Setting, followed by establishing Bridge City Hustle.
Releasing his debut EP, Love Through It All, Burgos amassed more than 250,000 Spotify streams in the first 30 days. His follow-up endeavor is finished, slated for release via the Orchard in the forthcoming months.
Burgos’ sound revolves around R&B and soul, flavored with savors of pop, hip-hop, reggae, and blues, drawing influences from Donny Hathaway, Michael Jackson, Timbaland, and D’Angelo.
“Creepin” opens on cool, suave R&B colors topped by Burgos’ delicious falsetto, riding velvety, sensuous textures. A fat vibrating bassline and crisp drums provide a tumescent groove, as softly radiating vocal harmonies inject glowing surfaces of sonorous depth.
A gleaming breakdown, full of creamy flavors, infuses the tune with drifting voluptuous mists, emphasizing the smooth timbres of Burgos’ tones.
“Creepin” simmers with lingering seductive hues, a potently erotic rhythm, suggestive visuals, and the scrumptious voice of Johnny Burgos.
