It’s that time of year again, where we all come together to honour and thank those who make us feel proud to be British with the Daily Mirror’s “Pride of Britain” Awards 2018.
The annual event, which was first set up to celebrate heroes and those who have gone beyond what is expected of them, is set to take place tonight (29th October) ahead of its television broadcast on ITV in November.
Celebrities and public figures are all set to take to the Grosvenor House in Park Lane for the Pride of Britain Awards 2018 later this evening where they will honour this year’s remarkable winners.
Hosted by Carol Vorderman, the event will feature appearances from HRH Prince Charles, footballer David Beckham, and Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick among many others.
Sir David Jason is also expected to be in attendance, alongside Simon Cowell, Roman Kemp, Major Tim Peake, Ellie Goulding, John Bishop, Amanda Holden, Dermot O’Leary, Rochelle Humes, Louise Redknapp, Olly Murs, Scarlett Moffatt, and Kym Marsh, who will be thanking the night’s heroes and presenting them with their well-deserved awards.
Among those heroes are the selfless British divers at the heart of the Thai cave rescue, who earned praise from all around the world for their bravery, a remarkable couple who have dedicated their life to fundraising over £230 million for children’s cancer research, and a brave school boy who became the youngest person ever to scale the 440 ft Old Man of Hoy in honour of his terminally-ill mother.
But in addition to these tearjerking moments and heartwarming stories of courage and selflessness there will be lots of surprises throughout the evening. To name one, dancing superstar and Diversity front man Ashley Banjo will join Carol Vorderman in surprising one of this year’s winners with a very special stunt.
So basically, it’s going to be a remarkable night and you might want to stock up on tissues when the Daily Mirror’s “Pride of Britain” Awards 2018 comes to ITV next month.
