Prince’s family have announced plans to stage a concert to honour the late singer.

Following his tragic death in April, the much loved icon’s family want to celebrate his ‘life, music and legacy’.

In a statement released to The Associated Press, Prince’s siblings say “we have been moved by the tremendous love and support of Prince’s friends and fans around the world.”

“We are excited for the opportunity to bring everyone together for the official family celebration of Prince’s life.”

“We are honoured by the artists who will pay tribute and grateful to those that have worked so hard to make this celebration possible.”

The concert will take place on October 13th at the U.S. Bank Stadium, Minneapolis. Tickets for the event will go on sale next month, with performers being announced on ‘a rolling basis’.

Since his death, many artists have paid tribute to the entertainer.

Madonna and Stevie Wonder sang ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ and ‘Purple Rain’ and the Billboard Music Awards in May.

Last month’s BET Awards featured dedicated performances to Prince by Sheila E., The Roots, Janelle Monae, Maxwell and Tori Kelly, while Beyoncé and The Dixie Chicks have covered Prince songs at their recent concerts.
