Prosper Muna has just released his Jay Z inspired music video for his new single ‘Game’, and was recently featured on MTV’s Are You The One.
Here we talk exclusively to Muna about his new video, dream collaborations, music icons, and much more.
Growing up who were your musical icons?
I looked up to people like Prince and Michael Jackson because they were true entertainers. They were equally legendary on record and in concert. Lil Wayne has had a major influence, I sometimes call him my pops because I wanted to be like him as a young-un
When did you realise you wanted to pursue music as a career?
I’ve always wanted to but I got serious in High School. I remember recording in the bathroom with my homie like everyday after school. Doing it for the love.
If you could collaborate with any artist who would you choose?
Probably HOV or Lil Wayne. Being able to collaborate with the goat’s (greatest of all time’s) would be a life changing experience
What made you want to release a music video inspired by Jay Z?
He’s the god. HOV is what everyone aspires to be in this game. He’s one of the architects of the culture, setting trends. I had to pay respects. He taught me how to be smooth
How excited were you to be featured on MTV’s Are You The One?
It was cool. I enjoyed the experience but I’d never do anything like that again. That’s not me that reality stuff. It opened up other lanes for me but I’m a rapper. I want to be known as that.
Can fans expect to catch you on tour anytime soon?
Yeah later on in the year. My team is putting together something now. [I’m] About to drop my new project ‘1991’ after after that it’s lit.
Are you planning on releasing an album soon?
Yeah that’s definitely in the process. I have mad stuff I gotta get off my chest before that though. I’m gonna drop a few projects first. I want to make my mark before I drop my album.
What do you hope to achieve over the next ten years?
I want to take over the game. I see the Forbes list, Grammy’s, record labels, platinum albums, all that. I work hard at my craft and I believe in manifesting the results you want in life.
