RANI Releases Debut Album – ‘396’

Just a few days ago, Dutch singer-songwriter RANI dropped her debut full-length album, entitled 396, via Sony Music Entertainment Netherlands.

The title of the album – 396 – refers to the previous trio of EPs whose nine tracks appear on the album, along with three brand-new songs: “Intentions,” “Show Me I’m Wrong,” and Exhibition Closed.”

RANI shares, “I’ve been working towards this moment since the release of EP3. I’m so excited to bring the three EPs together, along with the new tracks, and present the full story of my first album.”

Along with the album, there’s a new video for “Exhibition Closed,” a song about RANI’s personal relationship. According to RANI “I’m in a relationship right now but I don’t need to be ‘exhibiting’ every moment of it on social media for it to be real.”

Even though many consider her to be a newcomer, RANI has been one of the go-to vocalists in the electronic music scene for a few years, with more than 700 million streams as featured artist. She recently worked with Berlin producer Jonasu on “Black Magic,” which collected video and audio streams totaling more than 50 million. She’s also collaborated with Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano on “Life After You” and “Get Together” with David Guetta.

RANI’s talent resulted in her selection as MTV’s Push Artist, Xite Kickstart Artist, and Spotify’s EQUAL Artist, along with a worldwide publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing Benelux.

Entry points on 396 include “Sugar Rush,” a creamy, throbbing R&B tune with a fat bassline and tight, crisp percussion. RANI’s delicious voice imbues the lyrics with sweet, sensuous savors as glowing harmonies give the song depth and dimension.

“Exhibition Closed” rolls out on a lush groove topped by RANI’s supple, evocative voice narrating her desire for privacy in the personal relationship. While “Intentions” delivers cool, funky R&B leitmotifs and the last track, “Show Me I’m Wrong,” features low-slung flavors of bubbly R&B, as well as the superb voice of RANI.

With 396, RANI blends posh R&B textures with alt-pop tangs into luscious sonic confections brimming with style.
