RISING pop star Allegra is playing safe in her glitzy new music video after an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction on TV’s Saturday Mash-Up.
Allegra, 22, was blindsided by a stuck zip just before her last performance on the BBC show in 2023. But her latest stylish outfit is zipless and “disaster-proof”.
The London-based singer had opted for an elegant futuristic bodysuit for her video for new track Love You Right Back, which has been remixed by Alok – hailed as one of the world’s biggest DJs.
The star’s new look was inspired by sixties movie legend Jane Fonda in the raunchy cult fantasy 1968 film Barbarella, now being remade by Sony. It blends sci-fi metal armour with an almost spider-woman aesthetic, creating an iconic look for her new music video.
A spokeswoman told Express online – “Wardrobe malfunctions are the curse of modern pop stars who love to take risks.
“Allegra’s zip got stuck above her rear moments before she performed Round And Round on CBBC’s Saturday Mash-Up, but while some stars would have frozen or panicked, she calmly fixed the problem prior to her live performance.
“She is such a pro, viewers had no idea.”
Brazilian superstar DJ Alok, 32, was won over by her music and charisma. He said: “I first discovered Allegra through Tiesto’s remix of her track Round & Round, and I have been following her ever since.
“When she reached out to me about remixing her latest single, I was thrilled at the opportunity to collaborate with such an amazing artist.
“She is extremely talented, and it has been an absolute pleasure to collaborate with her.”
Last yeqr, Grammy-winning “godfather of EDM” Tiësto created a chart-topping remix of her track Round & Round generating millions of global streams and a #1 spot on the Music Week Commercial Pop Charts.
Other world-renowned DJs, including Tobtok, Full Intention, Majestic, and R3HAB, have all put their spin on Allegra’s electrifying vocals to create dancefloor anthems.
She has become one of the “go-to girls” for world-renowned DJs and attracted more than eleven million plays on Spotify and ten million plus TikTok views.
She has notched up scores of interviews and performances on TV around the world including Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch.
Alok, a prominent figure in the global electronic music field, has worked with some of contemporary pop’s biggest voices, remixing work from the likes of Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, Tate McRae, and RAYE.
House Mag rank him the “Best DJ in Brazil”.
Released via Radikal Records, Alok’s remix of Love You Right Back pulsates with dark energy, characterised by rapid drums and hard-hitting bass, perfectly complementing Allegra’s captivating vocals.
The classically trained singer and violinist was lured to pop in her teens after growing up listening to Rihanna and Beyonce.
She was signed at 14, and spent years honing her sound and training her singing voice for the dance floor.
Her debut single All About You was released five years later in 2021 peaking at Number 7 on America’s Billboard Dance Chart and Number 2 on Music Week’s Club Chart, as well as notching up official chart placements across Europe and worldwide.
She has subsequently delivered six more Top 3 singles.
Alok is convinced that Allegra’s ability to create mesmerising melodies over infectious beats will make her a “major star”.
With an astonishing 32 million monthly Spotify listeners and an impressive tally of almost 6.5 billion all-time streams, the Brazilian DJ is one of the most streamed electronic producers globally.
Allegra’s impact extends far beyond chart rankings, as evidenced by millions of views on YouTube and an impressive stream count on Spotify. She is now at a point where she is setting herself apart as one of the most promising talents in contemporary music.
*Wardrobe malfunctions are a common problem on TV stretching from Janet Jackson at the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show to Judy Finnigan’s bra incident at the Brits TV Awards in 2000.
