On Friday 24th March, ONICKS released the music video for their version of ‘Toxic’. The music video provides a 80s feel; the sort of music video that would be seen on an 80s music channel. Meanwhile, ONICKS unique sounding vocals make the song addictive to listen to. We have certainly had it on repeat ever since the track was released on the 17th March.

Music offered ONICKS the emotional strength to change their life as they battled with anxiety, depression, and addiction. Influenced by artists range of artists; for example, Michael Jackson and Rihanna. ONICK has developed as an artist through the transformative role their musical inspirations have played.
Streamy award winner Brandon Rogers asking ONICKS to create a cover for his brand new YouTube series ‘Bryce’. In which, this was how ONICKS’ cover of ‘Toxic’ was born’. Brandon also directed and produced the music video for the track. Furthermore Brandon also starred in the music video.
The collaboration between Brandon and ONICKS pays homage to the mysterious and dark but iconic track by Britney. Creating a darker twist, which is the style ONICKS likes to go for.
ONICKS succumbed to the temptation of taking hard drugs at a young age. Also facing rejection from the ‘mainstream’ music scene at the age of 19. The reason being they were not a fully ‘recognised’ artist. This is a real struggle for any artist wanting to break into the ‘mainstream’ music scene. They have also been through struggles surrounding their feminity, sexuality and image.
ONICKS is an artist who has been through a lot of tough times in life. However, also demonstrates how someone can turn their life around.
we can not wait to hear what is next from ONICKS. He is a deliberately different artist, with an inspirational story. Where music has helped him get through the toughest times in his life.
