There are those songs that are just swirling with a pure, immense, palpable feeling. The type of piece that, from the second you listen, you are instantly swept up into a whole other world. Teenager Riley Max’s emotive Jazz pop ballad “Blue” is the ideal bittersweet serenade. The track is a true standout, with dazzling, delicate vocals hovering a top light piano and a warm saxophone. The visuals that include Riley Max crooning over a piano create an enchanting air of elegance. Mixing color imagery with black and white, she represents a sense of timelessness and wisdom beyond her years.
“Blue” is off of the singer’s carefully curated album ROY G BIV. The 9-track release takes profound moments from her life and associates them with a color. For this unique body of work, Max wears a multitude of hats. She composes the music and lyrics, sings, plays keyboard and guitar and co-produces. The immaculate talent also joins forces with other musicians such as Doctor Noize, Art Bouton, and David Amaya.
Music flows through her veins. As the daughter of a hit recording/touring artist, it is no wonder she possesses such vast skill. To have composed a whole album with the software Logic Pro is no small feat. There is maturity about Riley Max, not only in her level of proficiency, but also in her sound. Her music evokes vibes of a different generation, and we are here for that soothing nostalgia.
