Rita Ora Opens Up About New Album

Rita Ora has opened up about her new album.

The as yet untitled record, the follow up to 2012’s Ora, looks set to be released this summer.

“Of everything I’ve accomplished, I’m proudest of my new album.” Rita tells Shape Magazine.

“It’s going to shock people. I think it’ll be like, ‘Wow, I didn’t know she had those emotions.’ Because I don’t think they really know me… they see pictures of me, they watch me on TV, but I try to keep my personal life as private as possible, and I don’t post pictures of who I’m seeing.”

“On this album, though, I say things I think people have been wanting to know. But it’s done in a moving-forward way. It’s a positive, uplifting album.”

It’s been tricky for Rita to get to this point.

The ‘Body On Me’ singer has been trying to release her second studio album for a number of years now but has faced some challenges along the way.

Ora had collaborated with ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris on some tracks, but after their bitter break up, the producer barred her from performing any of the songs he owned the rights to.

Then came her legal battle with record label Roc Nation.

Rita had signed with Jay Z’s label back in 2008 but, in 2015 requested her contract be terminated as she felt her recording career was being neglected by the company.

Both parties reached a settlement in May 2016.

Despite her lack of musical output, Rita has kept herself busy.

Since 2014, Ora has designed her own apparel collections for Adidas, in 2015 she appeared as a judge on both The Voice and X Factor in the UK and this year took over from Tyra Banks as the host of America’s Next Top Model.

Rita also turned her hand to acting appearing in movies ‘Southpaw’ and ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’.

Rita Ora features in the new issue of Shape Magazine out now.
