After Rita Ora confirmed the track last week via Twitter, the suspense has been highly building over the past seven days for the female empowerment anthem ‘Girls’. The star studded collaboration features some of the hottest names in the industry, Cardi B, Bebe Rexha and long-time industry friend and previous collaborator Charli XCX.
The British hit-maker released this song “For those who aren’t afraid to rule world”, stating in an interview earlier this week that “this is our anthem”.
This morning, Rita told Capital FM that superstar rapper Cardi B was the first female recruited, followed by Charli and lastly Bebe, for the song which she said she’s had “in her back pocket for the past two years”.
The track, which openly speaks about bisexuality and promotes pride, is the perfect summer anthem for anyone who just wants to have fun as it pays homage to those individuals who are unapologetically themselves.
The music video will also feature all of the star studded line-up after Bebe and Rita shot some parts of it this past week in London before Rita flew over to join Cardi in some of her scenes. Charli posted on Instagram yesterday that she was recording her contribution in L.A so the video can be expected very soon.
Rita is also kicking off her appropriately named sold out ‘Girls’ Tour in Glasgow this evening with support from Raye and Kara Marni, who have also released new music this past week.
The highly infectious summer hit is now available worldwide on iTunes and all streaming platforms.
