NorCal-based indie alternative artist Roger Jaeger drops his latest single, “Momentum,” a song about the early stages of a romantic relationship when a flurry of emotions at once thrilling and chaotic reigns.
The lyrics center on keeping the connection moving forward. Even though she lives on the West Coast, and he lives in the Southeastern part of the country, he can’t get her out of his mind.
“I’m not caring what we call it, I just don’t want to lose momentum / Keep it ebbing keep it flowing / Even if it’s going slow and I’m not caring what we call it / I just don’t want to lose momentum.”
“Momentum” follows on the heels of Jaeger’s previous single, “Daylight,” resuming an amalgamation of distinctive alt-pop and alt-rock elements, drenched in creamy, sparkling harmonics and radiant harmonies.
Jaeger’s music has been featured in television’s General Hospital and the film Lights, Camera, Romance. Along with performing at Nashville’s Bluebird Café and in pubs throughout Ireland, a few days ago, he performed as part of SXSW 2023 at Labelcoin House.
When not making music, Jaeger travels extensively, gathering inspiration from his experiences, as well as gleaning creative influence reading his favorite books, including The War of Art and Austin Kleon’s Steal Like an Artist. In addition, he teaches songwriting for The University of The Nations in India.
“Momentum” rolls out on low-slung gleaming tones flowing into a deliciously beguiling rhythm throbbing with an angular cadence. Jaeger’s soft, sighing voice imbues the lyrics with declarative passion as he narrates his intimate vulnerability. The chorus escalates, revealing the aching desire to maintain the impetus of the relationship.
“Keep it rocking, keep it rolling / Keep it moving, keep it going.”
Dripping with subtle, urgent dynamism, “Momentum” displays profound emotional warmth surging with earnest appeal.
