Although Wings, a worldwide smash by Little Mix, was released back in 2012, the lyrics stand out for being
friendly. Not just friendly, but LGBT friendly as well.
With lyrics such as “Don’t let what they say keep you up at night” / “Your words don’t mean a thing I’m not listening” / “Mama told me not to waste my life she said spread your wings my little butterfly / “And they can’t detain you, cause wings are made to fly”, who wouldn’t give it a spot next to other greats such as ‘I Will Survive’ by Gloria Gaynor and Christina Aguilera’s ‘Beautiful’?
These kinds of songs all consist of empowering lyrics and were global hits in their own respective rights.
It’s been given a proper remix for all club-goers and has even been performed by drag queens worldwide, including RuPaul Season 6 contestant Gia Gunn and Season 5 contestant/Miss Congeniality winner, Ivy Winters.
