Sabrina Carpenter is wasting no time riding the wave of her breakout success. Just over a year after the chart-topping Short n’ Sweet, the pop sensation has announced her next full-length project, Man’s Best Friend, slated to arrive on August 29 via Island Records.

The announcement, made Wednesday (June 11), sent fans into a frenzy as Carpenter revealed the bold cover art on Instagram: a provocative image of her in black stilettos, held by the hair by an unseen man, echoing the album’s themes of power, satire, and cheeky defiance. “i can’t wait for it to be yours x,” she captioned the post, sparking immediate buzz.

The upcoming album will feature 12 tracks, kicking off with its already viral lead single “Manchild”, which dropped on June 5 and has dominated the U.S. Spotify charts ever since — currently holding the No. 1 spot for a fifth consecutive day with over 1.801 million streams.

The country-pop hybrid, co-written with Jack Antonoff and Amy Allen, is a blisteringly witty critique of fragile masculinity, anchored by Carpenter’s signature mix of charm and bite. “Manchild, why you always come a-running to me?/ F–k my life, won’t you let an innocent woman be?” she sings, with a melody that’s as sharp as it is infectious.

The announcement comes hot on the heels of Carpenter’s electrifying Primavera Sound performance in Barcelona, where “Manchild” made its live debut just days after release. “It sounds like the song embodiment of a loving eye roll,” Carpenter joked at the time, calling it the perfect summer soundtrack. “It feels like a never-ending road trip in the summer… so you can stick your head out the car window and scream it all summer long!”

If Short n’ Sweet was Carpenter’s coronation, Man’s Best Friend is shaping up to be her victory lap. Her previous LP earned her first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and produced two Hot 100 Top 10 hits — “Espresso” and “Taste” — alongside her first chart-topper, “Please Please Please,” which later got a deluxe edition duet with none other than Dolly Parton in February 2025.

Sabrina Carpenter is also set for a whirlwind summer of major performances, including two sold-out nights at London’s Hyde Park (July 5–6), a Lollapalooza slot on August 3, and back-to-back weekends at Austin City Limits in October. A fall leg of her Short n’ Sweet tour will bring her back to Madison Square Garden for a three-night run and see her take over Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena for another trio of shows.

For those counting, Man’s Best Friend will be Carpenter’s seventh studio album — a remarkable feat for the 25-year-old star, whose transition from Disney darling to pop provocateur is not just complete, but now unquestionably iconic. With “Manchild” dominating the charts and anticipation for the album growing by the day, Sabrina Carpenter is proving that her rise isn’t temporary; it’s the beginning of a new pop era she’s leading with full force.
