Saint Ahmad is a New York City based artist and club kid at his core. His newly released debut EP MINDS is an emotive, personal profile on Saint Ahmad’s trials and triumphs as a queer, black man.
MINDS is a journey through the many layers of SaintAhmad’s identity, brushing on his experience with religion, race, and sexuality. Opening track “skin” is a powerful vocal profile with subtle ethereal undertones as SaintAhmad repeats, “I feel good in my skin, Black and silky.” “skin” serves as a seamless transition into SaintAhmad’s second track “Power”. “Power” is a lyrically poised reverie on the judgement SaintAhmad faced from both his family and the church after embracing his true identity as a queer individual. “vibe” will send shockwaves through your system with heavy-handed electronics and eccentric vocals that muse on celebrating yourself after overcoming hardship. “lgc” featuring fellow NYC club icon Lolita Leopard is a vivacious party anthem about letting everything go. Closing track “MINDS” features dystopian beats and stark vocals as SaintAhmad reflects on the importance of shedding toxic thought patterns. MINDS is a transcendent journey of self acceptance, noting on the dark obstacles SaintAhmad has overcome to reach his peak at present.
SaintAhmad is a Brooklyn-based artist with a passion for storytelling. SaintAhmad was born in Tashikawahi-shi, Tokyo, Japan and grew up singing in church.
