‘The X Factor’ has revealed the exciting news that Sam Black will be replacing Anthony Russell on the show.
During the Six Chair Challenge, Anthony managed to win a Chair with his rendition of Joe Cocker’s ‘You Are So Beautiful.’ However, he has since announced that he has withdrawn from the competition, due to ‘personal reasons’.
Speaking about the decision to bring Sam back, mentor Louis Walsh said:
‘I had to think for a long time who could take the place.
Sam had a great reaction from the British public when his Audition aired. I re-watched it and realised we missed a trick not putting him through at Boot Camp. He has that retro 60s style viewers will love. He’s really likeable and talented and I can’t wait to hear more.’
Louis also spoke about Anthony’s departure from the competition, saying that he ‘has been fantastic across the series, a great singer and performer who we are really sad to see go.’
Talented Sam also made quite the impression at Bootcamp, as he proposed to his long-term girlfriend. We are really glad Louis has decided to bring him back to the competition!
When discussing his return to the show, Sam said:
‘Obviously, I feel terrible for Anthony because he is not only an amazing singer but also a lovely guy.
He has even messaged me good luck. I really appreciate the second chance I’ve been given and I feel so lucky to get this opportunity. My family and I are over the moon.’
