With the release of her latest single ‘Toxic’, British pop recording artist Samira tries to resist the allure of a bad boy…
Inspired by the push and pull of an emotionally abusive relationship, the super relatable track – co-written by Mighty along with Cal Lavelle (Ed Sheehan) – sees Samira try to cut ties with a guy who continues to be reckless with her heart.
Commenting on the shimmery pop bop, the singer says: “’Toxic’ is one of my favourite babies – it’s fun, flirty and sassy, but underneath the gloss it’s actually quite sad, tackling the important question of, ‘Why do we put up with bad behaviour in relationships, and what makes us go back to those situations?’”

Having spent the last year and a half in the studio, co-writing and producing tracks with some of musics biggest hitmakers, most notably Tre-Jean Marie (Little Mix, FLO), Cutfather (Demi Lovato, The Pussycat Dolls), Ryan Ashley (H.E.R., Anne-Marie), and Lil Eddie (Rita Ora, Maluma), Samira draws inspiration from the likes of Britney Spears, Rihanna, and Tinashe, to create a dynamic sound of her own.
Speaking to CelebMix back in the summer of 2022, the West End star said of her original material: “I’ve taken all of the mad, crazy and creative ideas that I’ve had stored away in my brain for years, and turned them into songs that I believe my generation are going to love! Even though I’m really inspired by all different styles and genres of music, I’d say my sound is quite unique and individual – it’s ultimately dance / pop, but it definitely has more of an edge. So you can expect a lot of high energy and empowering anthems… I’m striving to make music that people won’t forget!”
