Internet sensation Sammy Wilk released the dope music video for “Light Up” (feat. Ky-Mani Marley)” today. The video comes just a few months after Wilk dropped his first album Ready for War. As a testament to its success, the title track “Ready for War” hit #1 on the iTunes Reggae charts. Wilk put several exciting collaborations into this album, including Mac Marley, Sabrina Antoinette, Jack and Jack (his childhood friends and fellow Vine stars), and Ky-Mani Marley (son of Bob Marley).
Ky-Mani Marley is featured prominently in Sammy Wilk’s “Light Up” track and video.
Specifically, Marley sets the scene for Wilk’s entrance. The artists’ voices build off each other to create an energetic and catchy hook. It follows that the two have great synergy, which also shows in their professional relationship.
“Just to have Marley blood on one of your tracks is out of this world. It’s one of my favorite songs on the whole project,” Wilk said in an interview with Billboard. “I hope the smokers of 4/20 enjoyed the song.”
Since the release of Ready for War, Marley and Wilk have been in close contact. In fact, Marley even invited Wilk to perform “Light Up” at Marley’s concert at the Hollywood Bowl in front of the crowd of 17,000. While he was nervous, Sammy Wilk performed well and energized the audience.
Surely, the two have not seen the end of each other on stage.
