We have already had a taste of what’s to come from Gomez this era with the brilliant single ‘It Ain’t Me‘ which she recorded with Kygo. She also released her acoustic version of ‘Kill Em With Kindness‘, along with her sublime cover of Yazoo’s ‘Only You‘ with both tracks featuring on the 13 Reasons Why soundtrack.
Her new body of work is set to be her best yet. She has been recording with songwriting genius Ryan Tedder. Speaking about the songs in a recent interview, Ryan said: “We did a couple of records. I couldn’t begin to guess which will make her album. The ones that we did I am ecstatic about. The songs don’t sound like anything else she has. We did a very, very heartfelt goosebumpy like mid-tempo song”.
Along with talking about the upcoming tracks, the talented singer/songwriter also gushed about how great it was to work with Selena Gomez; “She’s a sweetheart. She’s phenomenal. She is the nicest. It is rare that I am around an artist that is so calm.”
Back last month Selena’s Interscope label boss John Janick spoke to Hits Daily Double about her new album, saying: “Selena—I think we’ve only scratched the surface with her. When I signed her, she wanted to figure out how to transition to a more mature sound, and her last album was the biggest she’s ever had. But the next one, from what music we have already, blows away what she did before. There was some great music on the last album and big hits with ‘Good For You‘ and ‘Same Old Love‘. But, the music she’s making now is next level.”
Nothing about Gomez’s upcoming announcement has yet been confirmed but we can only hope it will be news of a new album.
