Shawn Mendes is back with his latest single ‘If I Can’t Have You’ and it is a BOP.
‘If I Can’t Have You’ was written by Shawn alongside longtime collaborators Scott Harris, Teddy Geiger, and Nate Mercreau and is a bold pop record perfect for summertime.
Speaking exclusively to Zane Lowe on Beats 1 radio, the Grammy and BRIT nominated singer discussed his latest single and stated: “I’m going through this phase right now where I’m testing out all the styles I can possibly be doing. Pop is what’s in my blood — no pun intended. In the last six months, I wrote about 45 songs and they’re all over the place and different vibes. This is the one consistently every time I played for myself and for friends and family was giving people that smile.”
Accompanying the single, Shawn also dropped the music video which was directed by Bardia.
The world premiere TV performance of ‘If I Can’t Have You’ will take place at SNL on May 4th, marking Shawn’s second-ever slot as a musical guest on the iconic TV show. This single is the latest release from Shawn since his previous self-titled album, which debuted at Number 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart.
Shawn has just wrapped up the sold-out European leg of his world tour, including three nights at the world-famous O2 Arena. With over 100 dates remaining, the tour will take Shawn across the globe to North America, Australia, Asia, New Zealand, Latin America and his first ever stadium show at Rogers Centre in his hometown of Toronto, Canada.
