Nashville-based country-pop artist Shelly Leatherman drops her new track, “We Go Hard,” a song celebrating living life with the pedal to the metal, along with a brilliant new music video.
Shelly started out running sound at concerts for big stars like Kacey Musgraves, Jason Isbell, Shakey Graves, Sixwire, Lunch Money Lewis, and The Mike Huckabee Show, followed by writing and producing for artists such as Amy Grant, The Wailers, and Ally Brooke, as well as touring the country of Israel, where she got the opportunity to demonstrate her singing talent.
Now moving from behind the scenes to the forefront, Shelly has the chance to parade not only her musical gifts but her confidence and presence as a performer.
The lyrics of “We Go Hard” narrate the philosophy of Shelly and her team, who have been with her from the very beginning, as they journey through the maze of the music industry.
“We’re coming hard, gonna do our thing / Don’t wait around for what tomorrow brings / With every step embrace the mystery / Can’t nothing stop us far as I can see.”
“We Go Hard” opens on chugging guitars topped by Shelly’s sensuous voice, at once delicate and potent, exuding whispery textures as shimmering leitmotifs ripple with fluctuating colors. The steady, driving rhythm gives the tune luscious country-pop energy, low-slung and bewitching.
With “We Go Hard,” Shelly Leatherman struts to center stage, takes control and delivers plush, intoxicating country-pop.
