Now in its third year, Stand Up To Cancer has unveiled an exclusive music event – featuring a host of stripped back live performances – taking place at London’s Union Chapel, Islington, on 31 January 2019.

The event will help to raise funds for Stand Up To Cancer, a joint national fundraising campaign from Cancer Research UK and Channel 4 to accelerate ground-breaking research and help to save lives.

Heartbreakingly, nobody can escape the impact this disease has, with one in two people in the UK being diagnosed with Cancer. This event will help to raise funds for research and clinical trials.

Ed Harcourt, Tom Smith, She Drew The Gun, The Modern Strangers and Sam Johnson have all been confirmed for the event, along with a very special guest to be announced closer to the time.

    Ed Harcourt

Over the years, Ed Harcourt has amassed a fantastic career as a songwriter, producer and musician. To date, he has released seven critically acclaimed albums, two EP’s and thirteen singles, along with recently releasing his new album ‘Beyond The End.’ In addition to releasing his own music, he has wrote tracks from artists such as James Bay and Paloma Faith, along with producing music for Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Kathryn Williams.

    Tom Smith

Tom Smith is the frontman of British band Editors – made up of remaining members Chris Urbanowicz, Russell Leetch and Ed Lay – who recently released their sixth studio album. He will be performing an exclusive solo set at this event. Editors recently completed their UK tour, followed by a host of live shows during the summer. The band have gained two Number One singles and several Platinum certifications with their first three LP’s. Furthermore, the band were also previously nominated for Best British Band at the BRIT Awards.

    She Drew The Gun

Fronted by Louisa Roach, She Drew The Gun released their second album ‘Revolution of Mind’ in September 2018, following on from the release of their debut ‘Memories Of Another Future.’ Their new album has been nominated for BBC’s 6Music Album of the Year. Louisa’s set will be an exclusive solo acoustic performance. The band recently supported The Coral and will be touring again in 2019 for an extensive headline tour, with many dates already sold out.

    The Modern Strangers

After bursting on to the music scene in 2017, five-piece The Modern Strangers have gone from strength to strength, headlining seventeen festivals last year, including a slot on BBC’s Introducing stage at Radio One’s Big Weekend. Following the release of their debut EP in June, the band have been working on even more original music in LA. Additionally, they have headlined shows across the UK, along with performing in major European cities.

    Sam Johnson

Twenty-three year old Shropshire-born singer/songwriter Sam Johnson has become renowned for writing emotive, soulful and meaningful tracks. His debut single ‘Perfect Circle’ was rewarded BBC Introducing: ‘Shropshire’s Track of the Month,’ also gaining support from the likes of Radio One amd Amazing Radio and support online. After recently signing a record deal, more new music is set to be released in 2019.

Tickets for the event are priced at £25 are available to purchase by clicking here.
